Washer and Dryer Makeover

The tops of my washer and dryer take a lot of abuse from laundry baskets and heavy detergent bottles. I noticed one day that the paint had been scraped off the top of my dryer. Sad!

To prevent further chipping and add a little flair, I decided to cover the tops of my washer and dryer with some pretty adhesive laminate shelf liner!  I LOVE the pattern! (The color is actually a light gray, but appears a lot darker in photos.)

Application is pretty straightforward!

  1. Clean the surface.
  2. Measure the space and mark where you need to trim the paper.
  3. Starting with one corner, carefully peel the paper backing from the adhesive laminate, smoothing it onto the surface as you pull it off.

Voila! You’re done!

Should I cover the front panels, too? Or would that be too much?

I’m considering using this contact paper to cover a piece of furniture in my office. Or using it for bookshelf backing! Or making cute labels! So many options!
